BST Hyde Park – The History

British Summer Time first took shape for Summer 2013, when the Barclaycard sponsored event in association with The Royal Parks came to London’s Hyde Park. Replacing the Hard Rock Calling events which in that year went to the Olympic Park in Stratford and now have a home on Clapham Common.

The Rolling Stones heralded in the new format for the Hyde Park annual Summer music events, which over the years have seen the Wireless Festival, Live 8, Blur’s 2009 comeback gigs and Madonna’s MDNA Tour of 2012 and many more.

Creating a unique festival atmosphere in the centre of the capital is one of the event’s charms, with plenty of space to relax and chill out under the sun whilst enjoying some f he finest sounds around have made the BST events truly memorable.

2009’s set from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band were recorded and released as the BluRay and DVD ‘London Calling: Live In Hyde Park‘ which includes the Boss’s cover of the legendary track by The Clash.

2013 saw the first series of shows with headline acts including Bon Jovi, Lionel Richie, JLS, Beach Boys and Rolling Stones, sadly Elton John had to pull out due to poor health. Acts performed in a variety of stages named The Great Oak Stage, The Theatre, Village Hall and Bandstand.

2014 saw the likes of Arcade Fire, Neil Young, Black Sabbath, The Libertines, Tom Jones, Tim Minchin and McBusted take centre stage.

2015 looks like it’s shaping up to be an epic year as well, with Kylie, Taylor Swift, The Strokes, Beck, Blur and The Who all set to get the park rocking and popping!
